Engaged 'n stuff

On October 18th Joe asked me to marry him. We're currently in the planning stages of our wedding. Details can be found on our wedding blog, The Jess & Joe Show: http://thejessandjoeshow.blogspot.com/

As for me, I just finished up my rotation in the ICU and totally loved it. I never thought I would be interested in being an ICU nurse; however the experience really intrigued me. I may have found a new specialty!

On a side note, if you or anyone you know is an RN and knows of any hospital openings let me know. I'm currently on the hunt for a job! I'll relocate pretty much anywhere for the right opportunity. I'm highly motivated and organized.

I'm Baaaack!

Today I had a realization that I want to keep up on my blog. I have not contributed to it in 9 months.

So much has changed with me.

In January I ended my 5 1/2 year tenure with the State of Ohio and entered nursing school. In fact, this week marks my halfway point! It was a huge, but needed change. I am pleased with my decision to grow some and finally take control of my life, instead of just coasting by.

First day of Clinical

Since my last posting, the following has also happened:
Mgan and Stacey got married. Kristen and Rob got married.

I continued my lease until March. I became a Red Cross Volunteer (in two departments). I've met some great friends in nursing school. Another Comfest has come and gone. Our traveling has been cut in half. Since my last entry, we visited NYC for Mgan's wedding.
We traveled to Clearwater/St. Petersberg, FL on my Spring break, relaxing away on Indian Rocks beach eating stone crab at Crabby Bill's every night.
You must hydrate, my friend

Joe went part time at work and took up full time school. He also joined a rock band.

So here I am today. Last week I began my psych nursing rotation. I have the pleasure of being assigned to Twin Valley hospital for clinical. I am very excited about this assignment, mostly because my initial thought when deciding to go into nursing school was that I would return to work for the state as a psych nurse at Twin Valley. I'm not sure that will be happening, but I am glad to be afforded the opportunity to work in a long term inpatient psychiatric environment. And, a state mental hospital at that!

I've been spending the week working on a presentation I am giving for my class on Psychological First Aid. It is coming together really well.

Last Saturday Joe and I went to see Bruno. I was rather disappointed with it. Bruno was my favorite character on the Ali G show, but I don't feel that the movie gave him any justice. And, unless I missed it, I did not hear anyone say "das a nicht nicht!" So sad!

We spent Saturday night at Char Bar with Cass, Ben, and Jon. Lots of long islands later, we headed to Bar 23. Not at all my scene, but the Pop Rock martinis they kept feeding me were appeasing.

There you have it.
